Metabolism and Immunity

Metabolism is the intricate system of life-sustaining chemical reactions happening within our bodies and determines how efficiently we convert food into usable energy. Beyond influencing body weight, the specifics of your body’s metabolism can have a cascading effect on your physical and mental health. Our capacity to influence our metabolic regulation through diet, exercise, and lifestyle is more significant than most people realize.

The immune system plays a pivotal role in preventing and fighting pathogenic illness and managing inflammation within our tissues caused by injury. From immune cells, such as macrophages and regulatory T cells, to cytokines which mediate the immune response, these components work in unison to maintain homeostasis and keep us healthy — though, when not in check, can result in autoimmune disorders. Interestingly, immune function and metabolic regulation are interconnected. Mitochondria, the cellular metabolism's powerhouses, are central to the immune response, influencing the production of cytokines and the inflammatory response.

Here at our platform, we aim to cut through the noise and present research-backed, evidence-based information on these two critical aspects of our health and performance.
